What is meddling kids?
It's a new way of making a professional business or personal website without any programming, design or internet experience. You need nothing more than the ability to move and click your mouse. And make a few decisions along the way.

Who is it for?
Everybody knows what colours, pictures and shapes they like, and which they think work well with the message and identity of their business, but not everybody has the skills to convert those preferences into a slick, professional internet presence. Meddling Kids' professional designers and graphic artists have already done all the hard work in making a whole bunch of designs, graphics, photographs, navigation elements, colour schemes and layouts which plug together seamlessly in an easy to use, intuitive user interface. All you need to do is choose the parts you like and which you think look good, type in your text and, if you have them, upload your company's logo and any photographs you may have. Thats all. Really.

How does it work?
We engineered from the ground up a complete custom system for generating HTML (internet format) pages with the ability to choose business category, design, colour scheme, image motif, company name, slogan, number of pages, names of pages, layout, upload logo and photographs, enter your own text, and more stuff i have to type. A more technical answer is that we use our own proprietary system coded in php 4 and javascript, using dynamic mysql database driven pages and a modular, scalable system for multilanguage text and graphics and the potential to plug in any number of new features in the future.

What software do i need to use?
You don't need any software except the web browser you are currently using to read this page. Meddling Kids is compatible with any 4.x or higher version web browser. This includes Netscape Navigator 4 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.

How much does it cost?
We made it simple for you- you pay one single payment of €99 for three pages and €149 for six pages, and then a €25 per year subscription fee. Hosting includes 10 megabytes storage space, your own domain name (eg. www.mybusiness.com) and up to 10 email addresses to match your domain name. And because we're nice, we will give you the first 12 months subscription for free.

If I buy a website now can i change it later?
Absolutely. You can use our system as much and as often as you like as soon as you create an account with us. You can change the text that you entered, the photos you uploaded, the names of your pages, even a completely new design! Everything you can do when you build your page the first time, you can do again whenever you like, as often as you like.

Does it make sense to secure my Meddling Kids website now, and then build it later?
Yes- why not? It makes no difference to our system whether your page is full of features or completely empty, because you can go back at any time and make any number of changes to it.
One thing we guarantee, the price for now is €99-€149 and will hopefully stay that way for some time. However we will be introducing a host of new features over the coming months, and there is a slight chance that some of these may drive up the cost by a small amount. If you buy your Meddling Kids website today, you have paid for a whole year, so no matter what it may cost in six months, you still get to use all the new features as they come out, but you won't have to pay anything extra. Also you should be sure to grab the web address you want before somebody else does. Something to think about.

How long after I create my meddling kids account before I can use my new website?
You may login and modify or change any aspect of your website as soon as you make your account. However it may take up to five days before your web address (domain name) becomes available. This is because all domain name registration must go through one central authority in each country and they register hundreds or even thousands of domain names per day. As soon as the registration process is complete you (and millions of others) will be able to go to your web address and see the website that you created. And of course we will notify you by email the moment your website 'goes live'.

Why can i only choose three pages when I'm building my Website?
That would be because you have already activated your account, and have paid for three pages. You have the option to upgrade your website to six pages for an extra €50.

Why should I use Meddling Kids instead of Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Front Page or Adobe GoLive?
The simple answer is, if you know how to use and are comfortable using those software packages then you should go ahead and use them. No browser-based web page building system will ever be able to match the power and flexibility that they offer. However, all three of those applications range in price from fairly expensive to very expensive, and due to their sophistication can be very difficult to learn.

Most importantly, though, Meddling Kids was never intended to be a software application for web designers; the whole point was to allow our customers to take our pre-built professional designs, modify them in any number of ways and turn them into their own unique web presence, with technical support, hosting and their own domain name- a complete package. You don't need any design talent, computer graphics skills or original cutting edge ideas to use Meddling Kids, you just have to choose the elements you like from our 'menu'. The software packages mentioned above allow talented designers and artists with limited technical skill to build excellent web pages. Meddling Kids is for everybody else.

How do I know if Meddling Kids is right for me before I pay my money?
Anybody who visits Meddling Kids may use all of the website building functions we offer. All of the designs, all of the images, all of the choices that paying members get. You can also create an account with us for free, and you get seven days to use your account, make and save changes to your Website as often as you like and do everything you could do with a paid account. The only limitation to your seven day free trial is that your account doesn't have a Domain name or email access. If you choose to pay for your account within your seven days, we will register the domain name of your choice and put your Website online for everyone to see.
